Multi-Port Selector Valve Connections
In the project of connecting several multi-port selector valves to
the flowmeter, is it necessary to install check valve at each individual
multi port valve test line outlet? There are 5 multiport valves and 1
flowmeter.
The purpose is to provide individual flow measurement
of each single stream (from production well) entering each multi-port
valve. In other words, if we need to measure single flowrate from any of
26 production wells, how can we provide that flow cannot occur in
unwanted direction - i.e., from the test line of any of the multi-port
valve that is being measured at the moment, back to the test-lines and
ports of other multi-port valves?
I appreciate your comments.
Also, it would be very nice if someone can recommend a literature about
8-port valve principle of operation.
I have worked on a couple of Shell PDO projects in Oman where I have
used Multiport Selector Valves (MSV) and haven't used check valves on
the MSV outlet flowlines. The reason, according to what I was told, is
that the internal construction of the MSV is such if the MSV has been
lined up to receive gross fluids from a particular flowline then the
ports connected to the other flowlines are automatically isolated.
Therefore cross-contamiantion with fluids from the other flowlines can
be ruled out.
Unfortunately, I cannot recall the vendor whom we
had interacted with at that point in time (.....about 4 years back in
Muscat...)
Unfotunately, I would not be able to advise you much
more than what I have said above as my knowledge on this subject is
limited..
